About these Terms
TechStreamTV is developed, owned, and operated by AbleStudio. By using TechStreamTV software, TechStream.tv, or other AbleStudio-operated TechStreamTV services, you agree to these Terms and any separate terms that apply to a particular product or service. If you do not agree, do not use that product or service.
TechStreamTV software and Software License
TechStreamTV is proprietary AbleStudio software and is licensed, not sold. TechStreamTV 5.x Media Server, the bundled Web UI, and the current Windows Player are currently free for personal, non-commercial use.
Software ownership, permitted use, redistribution, reverse engineering, source-code rights, termination, warranties, and software liability are covered by the separate TechStreamTV Software License. These Terms do not replace or expand that licence. If the two differ on a software-specific matter, the Software License applies.
Self-hosted servers and your content
TechStreamTV Media Server is self-hosted software that runs on a system you control. AbleStudio does not centrally host your TechStreamTV media library. Your media and other content remain stored and controlled by you.
AbleStudio does not routinely receive, inspect, catalogue, monitor, or moderate media stored in private TechStreamTV libraries. You are responsible for the content you use with TechStreamTV and for making sure your use follows the laws and third-party rights that apply to you. AbleStudio does not remotely manage or remove individual media files from your server.
Acceptable use of AbleStudio services
When using TechStream.tv, downloads, update services, documentation, support, or other AbleStudio-operated services, you must not:
- intentionally disrupt, damage, overload, or interfere with the services;
- attempt unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or administrative areas;
- spam or intentionally abuse support or contact services;
- impersonate another person or intentionally misrepresent an affiliation; or
- use AbleStudio-operated services to violate the rights of others.
These rules apply to services and infrastructure operated by AbleStudio. They do not mean AbleStudio monitors media stored on privately operated TechStreamTV servers.
Media files and application data
TechStreamTV Media Server reads and serves the media you choose to add for organization and streaming. It does not normally edit the original media files. It may create related files such as downloaded artwork and separately stores library data, settings, playback history, and other application state.
Software bugs, interrupted operations, storage failures, updates, or other problems may cause TechStreamTV application data, metadata, settings, playback history, resume information, or library state to be lost or corrupted. In some cases, the library may need to be rebuilt or re-imported.
Losing TechStreamTV application data does not necessarily mean your original media files were changed or damaged. Keep backups of any data you consider important.
Networks, remote access, and security
TechStreamTV is LAN-first, but it is not LAN-only. It is designed primarily for networks you control or trust. Local networks are not automatically secure, so consider whether shared networks, public Wi-Fi, or untrusted devices can reach your server.
Remote access is supported when you configure your network to allow it. If you expose TechStreamTV Media Server outside your local network, you are responsible for configuring your router, firewall, and other network controls appropriately.
TechStreamTV Media Server does not currently provide native HTTPS/TLS. Remote access therefore increases network exposure and should be configured with appropriate care.
TechStreamTV is actively developed and tested, but software and network services can contain bugs, compatibility problems, security vulnerabilities, and unexpected behavior. AbleStudio does not guarantee that TechStreamTV will be free of defects or vulnerabilities or work with every device, network, or configuration.
Updates and product changes
AbleStudio may update TechStreamTV, change features or compatibility requirements, discontinue features, stop maintaining older versions, revise documentation, replace downloads, or change related online services.
AbleStudio does not guarantee permanent support for older versions or that every combination of Media Server, client, and Web UI will remain compatible forever.
Software updates do not give AbleStudio remote administrative control over your Media Server.
Availability and support
TechStream.tv, downloads, update services, documentation, support, and other online resources may occasionally be changed, maintained, temporarily unavailable, replaced, or discontinued. Continuous availability or a specific uptime level is not guaranteed.
An interruption to an online service does not necessarily prevent an already-installed TechStreamTV Media Server from continuing to work locally.
support.techstream.tv is the official TechStreamTV support service. AbleStudio does not guarantee a particular response time, resolution time, or service-level agreement. The support service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or changed as TechStreamTV develops.
Intellectual property and third parties
TechStreamTV software and official TechStreamTV materials are owned by AbleStudio or their applicable rights holders and licensors. The Software License governs your rights to use TechStreamTV software.
Third-party software, services, and materials remain subject to their own terms and licences. Applicable acknowledgements are listed in Third-Party Notices.
You keep whatever rights you hold in your own media and content. Using TechStreamTV does not transfer ownership of that content to AbleStudio or give AbleStudio rights to your private media library simply because TechStreamTV indexes or streams it locally.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Software License contains the warranty terms that apply specifically to TechStreamTV software. To the extent permitted by law, TechStream.tv and related AbleStudio-operated services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
AbleStudio does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, universal compatibility, vulnerability-free operation, or preservation of all TechStreamTV application data.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, AbleStudio is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses resulting from service interruptions, compatibility problems, network configuration, user-controlled remote access, unauthorized access outside AbleStudio's reasonable control, loss or corruption of TechStreamTV application data, or other failures related to the use of TechStreamTV software or services.
Nothing in these Terms means that loss of TechStreamTV application data automatically damages your original media files. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Restriction and termination
Termination of your right to use TechStreamTV software is governed by the Software License. Nothing in these Terms means AbleStudio can remotely deactivate, delete, or shut down your independently operated Media Server.
AbleStudio may restrict or suspend access to online services it operates when reasonably necessary to protect its services or infrastructure, address abuse or security threats, enforce these Terms, or comply with legal obligations.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without removing any rights or remedies that apply under mandatory law.
If a dispute arises, you and AbleStudio are encouraged to try to resolve it informally where practical. If formal proceedings are necessary, they may be brought before a court with appropriate jurisdiction, subject to any rights or remedies that cannot legally be restricted.
Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or waives any consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, restricted, or waived.
Privacy
The TechStreamTV Privacy Policy explains how TechStreamTV handles local product data, website traffic information, and information you provide through support.

Changes to these Terms
AbleStudio may update these Terms as TechStreamTV, TechStream.tv, or related services change. The effective date shown on this page identifies the current version.
