Network requirements

TCP

Server port

TCP port 5050 is the default for the Web UI, API, playlists, posters, subtitles, and media streams. It can be changed in the server.

UDP

Discovery port

UDP port 5051 is used for optional LAN discovery. Broadcast discovery must be enabled and allowed through the host firewall.

LAN

Same network

Clients and server should be on the same local network for discovery. A manual server address works when broadcasts are blocked.

LAN-first: TechStreamTV Media Server is designed primarily for local network operation. Remote access is also supported when you configure your network to allow it.

Media compatibility

TechStreamTV directly serves original media and supports byte-range seeking. It is not a universal transcoding server. File recognition includes MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WMV, WebM, M4V, FLV, MPG, MPEG, 3GP, and TS, but the audio/video codecs inside those containers must be supported by the selected browser or LibVLC client.
