TechStreamTV Player for Windows
See Downloads for current release information.
TechStreamTV Player for Windows is a Windows 11 x64 client. It combines the shared TechStreamTV Web UI with native LibVLC playback.
Install
Use the Windows Player card on the TechStreamTV Downloads page. When the download is available, close any running copy of the Player before installing the new version and check the release notes for any version-specific instructions.
Download the Player only through TechStream.tv or the official download it links to.
How it works
The Player displays the shared TechStreamTV Web UI using Microsoft WebView2, while media playback is handled by native LibVLC.
Playback requests are checked to make sure they belong to the connected TechStreamTV server before being passed to LibVLC. The Windows client currently uses bridge protocol version 1.
Connect to a server
When the Player starts, it can search your local network for TechStreamTV Media Servers. Select a discovered server or enter the server address manually.
The Player remembers the last server you used and checks compatibility
through /api/compatibility before loading the Web UI.
Playback controls
TechStreamTV Player for Windows supports play and pause, seeking, resume position, fullscreen, volume control, and playback progress reporting back to the Media Server.
HLS streams and ordinary on-demand media are handled separately so live streams can behave differently from normal files.
Subtitles
When the Media Server provides a subtitle for the selected item, the Player can load it into LibVLC and make subtitle controls available.
Media and subtitle URLs from outside the connected server are rejected.
Requirements
- Windows 11 x64.
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.
- A reachable TechStreamTV Media Server compatible with Windows bridge protocol 1.
- Access to the server's HTTP port and, if used, the UDP discovery port.
Updating
TechStreamTV Player for Windows does not currently update itself. Download new versions through TechStream.tv Downloads, close the Player, and follow any instructions included with the release.
