TechStreamTV Media Server
The Windows 11 x64 Media Server manages your library, users, network access, playback data, and media delivery.
Library management
TechStreamTV 5 stores your active library in SQLite. The Library Editor can create playlists, add media by drag and drop, scan local folders, import M3U/M3U8 files, sort items, preserve empty playlists, and edit posters, descriptions, keywords, groups, and season-style metadata.
Quick sources and persistent libraries
You can start with a folder or M3U/M3U8 playlist, then manage the resulting library through the Library Editor. Imported playlist data is stored in SQLite and becomes the active library used by the server.
Users and authentication
Authentication can be enabled before starting the server. User accounts are stored locally in SQLite, and each user can have their own playback history and resume state.
If authentication is enabled and no users exist, TechStreamTV creates
a local account with a generated password and displays it
in the server application. User Manager can be used to add, rename,
update, or remove accounts.
Playback state
The server tracks resume position, duration, watched and completed status, play count, last played, and last completed for supported Web UI and native clients.
Live HLS streams are handled differently from ordinary on-demand media because they are not treated as seekable files.
Posters and metadata
Posters can use local files or remote HTTP/HTTPS URLs. Optional TMDB metadata lookup requires an API key and internet access. The server can store the TMDB key in encrypted form in its configuration.
Supported library file extensions
TechStreamTV recognizes MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WMV, WebM, M4V, FLV, MPG, MPEG, 3GP, and TS as video files. SRT subtitle detection is also supported.
File recognition does not guarantee playback on every device, since codec support depends on the browser or client being used.
Database safety
TechStreamTV uses database migrations, integrity checks, write-ahead logging, pre-migration copies, rotating daily backups, and recovery from compatible backups to help protect library data.
When backing up or updating the server, keep the complete
data folder.
Configuration
Server settings include the HTTP port, authentication, optional TMDB configuration, library path, and library import options. Server name and optional discovery settings are applied when the Media Server starts.
Server tools
The current release includes a Check for Issues tool that can scan playlist and media records for missing posters, descriptions, and keywords.
It is intended as a library check and does not test every possible media-file or codec problem.
