TechStreamTV 5.1.1 Release
TechStreamTV v5.1.1 has been released, delivering a focused security and reliability update for the Server and bundled Web UI.
This release strengthens authentication, session handling, request validation, resource protection, browser security, multi-user playback isolation, and Web UI delivery while preserving the existing TechStreamTV platform and client compatibility model.
SERVER SECURITY HARDENING
TechStreamTV 5.1.1 includes a broad Server security hardening pass focused on protecting authentication, request handling, configuration, and resource use.
Security-related settings are now handled more defensively during startup and shutdown, reducing the risk of invalid or failed configuration loads affecting saved settings.
Login handling has also been strengthened with improved throttling and protection against excessive authentication attempts.
Additional request validation and resource-abuse protections have been added around sensitive APIs, playback-state writes, media streaming, and expensive library requests.
These protections are designed to improve resilience without imposing unnecessary restrictions on normal multi-client Server operation.
STRONGER PASSWORD AND SESSION HANDLING
Password and session handling has been strengthened throughout the Server.
Existing supported account data can be upgraded automatically after successful authentication, allowing users to benefit from the newer password-storage format without recreating their accounts.
Authenticated session behavior has also been improved, and password changes now invalidate existing sessions for the affected account.
The result is a cleaner and more reliable authentication model for both browser and compatible native-client use.
BROWSER REQUEST HARDENING
TechStreamTV 5.1.1 adds additional protection around browser-originated requests and sensitive responses.
The Server now performs stronger request-origin and Host validation where appropriate, while sensitive authentication, identity, and playback responses receive improved cache protection.
Additional browser hardening includes anti-framing protection, MIME-sniffing protection, and improved referrer privacy behavior.
These changes improve the browser-facing security model without changing TechStreamTV's LAN-first architecture.
WEB UI 1.2.1
TechStreamTV 5.1.1 includes Web UI 1.2.1.
This update focuses on safer rendering, authentication-state handling, multi-user isolation, and frontend reliability.
Playlist-detail rendering has been hardened to remove unsafe HTML and event-handler construction paths.
Post-login navigation has also been tightened, while logout handling now better reflects whether the Server has actually confirmed the session boundary.
MULTI-USER PLAYBACK ISOLATION
Web UI 1.2.1 improves playback-state isolation on shared devices.
When users switch accounts, local playback state is now cleared at the account boundary so one user's watched or resume information cannot carry into another user's session.
Additional cross-tab protection prevents stale browser tabs from continuing to submit playback updates after an account change.
Pending playback updates associated with an older account are also discarded.
The Server remains authoritative for playback history, watched state, and resume information.
SELF-HOSTED WEB UI ASSETS
The bundled Web UI no longer relies on runtime CDN delivery for its primary JavaScript and CSS dependencies.
Required Web UI assets are now hosted directly by TechStreamTV.
This improves reliability in LAN-only environments and ensures the Web UI loads the exact assets packaged with the release.
STREAMING AND RESPONSE IMPROVEMENTS
TechStreamTV 5.1.1 also includes several smaller response and media-delivery improvements.
Media MIME handling has been improved for supported formats, while existing byte-range streaming and remote media support remain unchanged.
Browser handling of locally hosted Web UI resources has also been improved as part of the broader security and reliability pass.
