TechStreamTV 5.4.1 Release

TechStreamTV 5.4.1 is now available.

This release focuses on making TechStreamTV faster, lighter, more responsive, and more reliable across the Server, bundled Web UI, and supported TechStreamTV clients.

TechStreamTV 5.4.1 includes major Server performance improvements.

In real-library testing:

- Server startup time was reduced by approximately 71.5%

- Server status response latency was reduced by approximately 99%

- Playlist response time was reduced by approximately 45%

These improvements reduce unnecessary processing during startup and normal Server operation, making TechStreamTV feel noticeably faster, especially with larger media libraries.

Artwork handling has also been significantly optimized.

TMDB artwork is now acquired using sizes appropriate for its intended presentation rather than unnecessarily large source images.

In testing, this reduced managed artwork storage requirements by approximately 92% while retaining appropriate visual quality throughout the TechStreamTV Web UI.

The Web UI now keeps a synchronized local catalog after connecting to the Server.

Movies, TV Shows, genres, categories, sorting, and other normal library navigation can use this synchronized catalog instead of repeatedly requesting the complete library, resulting in faster day-to-day browsing.

Large-library handling has also been improved.

Movies, TV Shows, and Explore now use more efficient rendering and no longer rely on traditional numbered pagination, allowing large collections to be browsed more naturally while remaining responsive.

Artwork caching has also been improved so previously loaded Server-managed artwork can be reused more efficiently during normal browsing and route revisits.

TechStreamTV 5.4.1 also includes a broad set of Web UI reliability and presentation improvements.

Highlights include:

- Improved playback and resume reliability

- Better handling of cancelled and failed background requests

- Faster Movies and TV navigation

- Improved large-library browsing

- Fixed multi-word search input behavior

- Improved keyboard, D-pad, touch, and focus behavior

- Silent successful native-player handoff

- Improved responsive Details presentation

- Stable randomized Movies, TV, and Explore hero artwork

- Improved cinematic hero presentation

- Restored authoritative numeric TV group and season ordering

Playback sequencing has also been strengthened.

When an ordered TV episode finishes naturally, TechStreamTV can continue to the next episode.

The final episode stops normally, while Manual Close, Stop, Back, Escape, and playback failures do not trigger unwanted advancement.

Resume, completion, final progress, and rapid replay handling have also been improved across browser and supported native-client playback.

TMDB-assisted matching is more resilient in TechStreamTV 5.4.1.

TechStreamTV first searches using Title + Year. If no candidates are found, it can retry using Title only.

Fallback results are never silently applied, and existing titles, years, and filenames are not silently rewritten.

The Library Manager also receives improved Target Playlist synchronization so playlist creation, rename, deletion, and ordering changes remain correctly reflected while preserving the current selection whenever possible.

TechStreamTV 5.4.1 continues to use SQLite schema version 8.

No new database migration is required when upgrading from TechStreamTV 5.4.0.

Playback history remains authoritative on the TechStreamTV Server, allowing supported devices to share resume position, watched status, completion, play count, and playback history.

TMDB remains optional.

TechStreamTV continues to support local media management, grouping, playback, and LAN streaming without requiring TMDB, cloud media hosting, or an external database server.

TechStreamTV Server 5.4.1 is available now for Windows 11 (64-bit).
